This is my personal crusade to say, "wake up, America! Turn off Fox News and grow a social conscience!" Liberal" is not a four-letter word and I'll defend the liberal cause like a mad dog.

Big Business has purchased our politicians and hijacked our democracy. Trickle-down economics NEVER worked. The liberal media is a myth.

JFK and Other Liberal I Love

John Fitzgerald Kennedy was sworn in as our 35th president in 1961. At his inaugural speech and in many of his public addresses, he challenged all Americans to be “active citizens.” His words may be the most inspiring of any president this century and serve as a reminder that we still have the need to “assure the survival and success of liberty.”

You can experience the days of Camelot and explore president Kennedy’s legacy with the interactive timeline exhibit, JFK50.org and by visiting the John F Kennedy Presidential Library online.

In May of 1962, president Kennedy spoke at a UAW meeting and asserted that he would not be an “honorary chairman of a great fraternal organization” or basically just stand aside and let business do whatever it liked. He didn’t shirk away from the notion of regulation and he quoted Harry Truman saying, “there are 14 or 15 million Americans who have the resources to have representation in Washington to protect their interests…the interests of the great mass of other people…is the responsibility of the President of the United States, and I propose to fulfill it!”

John F. Kennedy was able to lead America during a very turbulent time, from the Cuban Missile Crisis, to meeting with the Soviet premier, to the stand-off at the University of Mississippi over integration.

JFK was a true leader because he had the charisma and influence to change the mind-set of people and he inspired Americans to strive to do more and greater things. Decades after his death, he is still viewed as a towering icon of the U.S. presidency.

Bernie Sanders is a modern American liberal and one of my heros.

James Earl “Jimmy” Carter served as our 39th President from 1977-1981. Though his presidency is much maligned by Conservatives as a failure, he not only brokered the peace treaty between Isreal and Egypt (the Camp David Accords) and signed the SALT II treaty with the Soviet Union; but also negotiated the new Panama Canal Treaties and established diplomatic relations with the People’s Republic of China.
